The big boomy bass really makes those fat drums so impactful that they shake even the upper floor of the house. While it is very densely mixed with a lack of 'space' and transparency in more intense sections, AM on vinyl is cleverly engineered to dodge much of the groove mistracking on conical needles, and Chris Bellman's mastering lends a super-airy crispness in the top-end, an enveloping atmospheric air, very good dynamics and a big punch factor to the music that I swear you won't find elsewhere. his getting me into AM is something I'm forever grateful for.The vinyl mastering annihilates the over-compressed digital versions, rendering this the only way (IMSO: in my subjective opinion) to experience this modern masterpiece. And I can't say that about a lot of albums these days! I give my dad credit for discovering "Do I Wanna Know?" on the radio years ago. Every song is Alex Turner's melodic intelligence at its prime and a winner - no fillers, no BS, just 12 consistently engaging earworms. Ltd.Īmazing rock album that remains timeless and wide-reaching in its cultural relevancy 5 years later. Hostess Entertainment Unlimited, Domino Recording Co.
